The Affiliate Marketing Strategy No One Talks About

The Affiliate Marketing Strategy No One Talks About

This website contains affiliate links. Some products are gifted by the brand. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. The content on this website was created with the help of AI.

While I share money-making strategies, nothing is "typical", and outcomes are based on each individual. There are no guarantees.

Last month, I made over $15,000 in affiliate marketing. That’s not my total income—it’s just the affiliate piece. And here’s the kicker: about 70% of that comes from promoting software.

Most people think affiliate marketing is about Amazon storefronts, TikTok “must-haves,” or putting together product roundups. That stuff works, but the commissions are tiny, the returns are constant, and you need massive volume just to make it worthwhile. The truth is, the big money isn’t in physical products. It’s in software.

Why Software Beats Products Every Time

When you recommend a physical product, you get paid once. Maybe you earn a few dollars on a sale, and that’s it. With software, it’s different:

  • Recurring commissions: Many software programs pay you every month for as long as your referral stays a customer.
  • Higher payouts: Instead of making $1.50 on an Amazon sale, you could be making $20, $50, or even $200 per signup.
  • Longer retention: Once someone starts using a software that runs their business—like their email marketing platform, their hosting, or their analytics—they rarely cancel.

That’s why I can consistently pull in five figures with affiliate marketing and not burn out chasing trends.

How I Promote Software Affiliates

Here’s the simple breakdown of how I do it:

  1. Pick software I actually use. I never promote tools I don’t believe in. Right now, my top earners are things like email marketing platforms, hosting, analytics, and AI tools I use every day. Pinclicks, VidIQ, Opus Clips.
  2. Sign up for their affiliate programs. Most software companies have an affiliate link hidden at the bottom of their website.
  3. Teach, don’t sell. I create content showing how I use the software—tutorials, side-by-side comparisons, or “this is how I made money with this tool” walkthroughs. People don’t want a sales pitch. They want a solution.
  4. Make it evergreen. A blog post, YouTube video, or Pinterest pin featuring software can rank for months or years, constantly sending new traffic to my affiliate links.

Proof It Works

I’ve built a six-figure-a-year affiliate business with this strategy. Each month, $15K+ comes in. Around 70% of that is software. That means even if I stopped creating content tomorrow, a big chunk of my income would keep paying out because of recurring commissions.

And here’s the best part: I didn’t have to hire a team, run ads, or chase virality. I spend about three to four focused hours a day, and that’s it.

How You Can Start Today

If you want to replicate this, here’s what you do today:

  • Make a list of the software you already use to run your business or side hustle.
  • Check if they have an affiliate program.
  • Create one piece of content around each tool—something that teaches people why you use it and how it helps you.
  • Drop your affiliate link (with disclosure) and publish it.

That’s literally how I built mine. Over time, it snowballs.

The Bottom Line

Affiliate marketing isn’t about chasing the newest trending product. The strategy no one talks about—the one that actually builds wealth—is promoting software. It’s where the high payouts are, it’s where recurring income lives, and it’s how I earn more than $15K per month while keeping my business lean, profitable, and fun.
