I Don’t Batch-Schedule My Substack Notes
Everyone wants to schedule Notes weeks out. I test daily, delete what flops, and only schedule the ones that already proved they work.
What This System Actually Does
Test before you batch
A scheduler can’t tell if a Note is good. Post daily first. Batch only what’s already proven.
Check the 3 dots
The next day, I open every Note’s stats. New subscribers or not — that’s the only number that matters.
Delete what flops
No new subscribers means it’s gone. Not archived. Deleted. My feed stays lean.
Clone what lands
A winning Note becomes four more. Now I’m scheduling proof, not guesses.
How I Run It, Every Single Day
No guessing, no batch scheduling weeks of content I haven’t tested yet.
Post daily, no exceptions
New Notes go out every day. No batching, no scheduling weeks ahead — not yet. I keep a running list of one-line ideas in my phone throughout the day, then turn one into a Note every morning before I do anything else.
If I only have one idea, I still post it. Consistency beats waiting for the “perfect” one.
Check the next day
I open the three-dot menu on every Note I posted. Did it bring in new subscribers? Yes or no. That’s the only question — one number, not a dashboard full of vanity metrics.
It takes two minutes and happens in the same morning block where I post the new Note, so it never gets skipped.
Delete what didn’t land
No new subscribers means it’s gone. I don’t leave it up hoping it catches on later. A Note sitting in my feed that never converted is just noise dragging down everything around it.
Most creators are afraid to delete anything. I treat it as maintenance, not failure.
Clone what worked
I feed the winner to Claude: give me four more like this. Same angle, same hook, new variations. I’m not asking for new ideas, I’m asking for more of the one that already proved itself.

Schedule only the proven ones
The clones go on the calendar one week apart, never back to back, so my feed doesn’t feel repetitive. They’re not guesses anymore, they already worked once.

Start with the days you have. The point isn’t volume, it’s that nothing gets batch-scheduled until it’s already proven. Three tested Notes beat thirty scheduled guesses.
