How to Merge Pinterest Boards

How to Merge Pinterest Boards

This website contains affiliate links. Some products are gifted by the brand. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. The content on this website was created with the help of AI.

While I share money-making strategies, nothing is "typical", and outcomes are based on each individual. There are no guarantees.

Most people don’t realize messy boards hurt distribution.

Pinterest learns from structure.

If your boards are scattered, duplicated, or loosely named, you dilute authority.

Merging boards cleans that up.

Here’s how to do it the right way.

First, decide which board wins.

If you have “Small Apartment Ideas” and “Small Apartment Storage Ideas,” don’t keep both if they overlap heavily.

Choose the stronger one.

The one with better keyword clarity.

The one with more followers or engagement.

Second, confirm keyword alignment.

Before merging, make sure the destination board title is optimized.

Use a clear, searchable phrase.

If needed, validate it with PinClicks so you’re not consolidating into a weak keyword.

Third, go into the board you want to merge.

Click the three dots.

Select “Merge.”

Pinterest will prompt you to choose the board you want to merge into.

Choose carefully.

Once merged, the secondary board disappears and its pins move into the primary board.

Fourth, clean up immediately.

After merging, review the board description.

Tighten it.

Include related keyword variations naturally.

Make sure it clearly reflects the topic.

Fifth, re-evaluate board sections.

If the board is large, consider using sections for subtopics.

Example:

Small Apartment Storage
Under Bed Storage
Closet Organization

Sections help organization without splitting authority across multiple boards.

Sixth, remove irrelevant pins.

If you’re merging for SEO strength, relevance matters.

Delete off-topic pins that weaken the board’s focus.

Pinterest rewards topical clarity.

Here’s why merging works.

Authority compounds when content is concentrated.

Instead of spreading 200 pins across three weak boards, you build one strong keyword hub.

Stronger hubs rank better.

Better ranking increases distribution.

This isn’t cosmetic cleanup.

It’s structural optimization.

Pinterest is a search engine.

Structure matters.
