While I share money-making strategies, nothing is "typical", and outcomes are based on each individual. There are no guarantees.

If you want Print on Demand products that get clicks and sales on Pinterest, it’s not enough to know what sells—you need to know why they sell, what styles are trending, and which tools to use to create them. Here’s how I’d break it down using Kittl (for design), EverBee (for market research), and Printify (for fulfillment).

Pinterest drives 33% more referral traffic to e-commerce sites than Facebook. – SocialPilot

1. Custom T-Shirts

ustom t-shirts are among the best-selling products on Pinterest because they fit perfectly into Pinterest’s aesthetic-driven platform. Pinterest users are highly visual and often seek out unique, personalized, or trend-driven items. Here’s a breakdown of why custom t-shirts work and how you can capitalize on this.

Why They Sell:

  1. Trendy Designs – Pinterest users love clean, minimalistic designs that stand out in a busy feed. Bold text statements, retro graphics, and minimal line art are all trending right now. These types of designs make t-shirts eye-catching, perfect for the platform’s scroll-happy audience. Custom t-shirts with trendy quotes, graphics, or retro typography grab attention quickly, and when done right, they can become viral.
  2. Personalization – People want products that feel unique to them. Personalized t-shirts (with names, quotes, or custom graphics) align perfectly with the DIY culture on Pinterest. This demand for individuality boosts sales as buyers often search for t-shirts that reflect their personal style.
  3. Giftability – Custom t-shirts are also an excellent gift option, making them appealing to Pinterest’s vast audience interested in DIY gifts, especially around holidays or special occasions.

Trends to Follow:

  • Neutral Palettes: Stick to black, white, beige, or muted tones. These colors have a timeless appeal, are highly versatile, and work across various design styles.
  • Bold Typography: Use bold, readable fonts to create statements that catch attention. Popular themes include motivational quotes, humorous sayings, or retro-inspired text designs.
  • Vintage Graphics: Retro vibes are big right now. T-shirts with nostalgic graphics (think old-school logos, 80s/90s aesthetics) are doing well on Pinterest. These designs stand out and evoke a sense of nostalgia, making them more shareable.

How to Create Them:

  1. Design in Kittl: Start by using Kittl’s design platform to create t-shirt designs. Kittl offers vintage templates and text effects that make it easy to create retro-inspired designs. You can play around with typography and use bold statements that will make your t-shirt designs stand out.
  2. Research with EverBee: Before finalizing your design, use EverBee to research the market. Look up t-shirt designs on Etsy to see what’s currently selling. This helps you understand what colors, fonts, and designs are trending. Be sure to check for keywords that have high search volume and are being searched for frequently by users looking for custom t-shirts.
  3. Print with Printify: Once you have your design, Printify allows you to print these designs on soft cotton tees, which are popular among buyers looking for comfort and style. Opt for a variety of sizes and offer unisex options, as these tend to be the most sought-after on Pinterest.

Real Data: Pinterest drives 33% more referral traffic to e-commerce sites than Facebook, making it an ideal platform for marketing Print on Demand (POD) products like custom t-shirts. In fact, 85% of weekly Pinterest users have made a purchase after seeing a Pin from a brand, showcasing the strong shopping intent Pinterest users have when they engage with well-designed, visually appealing products.

By tapping into trending design styles, creating personal and customized products, and leveraging Pinterest’s visual power, you can create a highly successful custom t-shirt business that resonates with Pinterest users.

This is how you can stand out: Design it in Kittl, validate your design in EverBee, and fulfill with Printify—this process ensures you’re hitting the right notes with your audience while maximizing your sales potential.

2. Hoodies

Oversized, cozy vibes dominate Pinterest boards in fall and winter. Think script fonts, boho designs, and seasonal quotes (pumpkin spice, Christmas, cozy girl aesthetic).

  • Design in Kittl: Use script fonts with vintage texture.
  • Research in EverBee: Search “cozy hoodie” or “fall hoodie” for keyword and sales volume.
  • Printify Tip: Use unisex hoodies for the oversized look Pinterest shoppers want.

3. Mugs

Giftable and perfect for Pinterest’s DIY/gifting audience. What’s trending: minimal quotes, cute doodles, and personalized names/dates. White ceramic mugs with bold black text perform best.

  • Design in Kittl: Use bold, handwritten fonts.
  • Validate in EverBee: “Funny mugs” and “personalized mugs” are top-sellers.
  • Printify Tip: Add lifestyle mockups (coffee table, desk flat lays).

4. Posters & Art Prints

Pinterest is basically a mood board. Posters featuring aesthetic quotes, minimalist line art, and vintage-inspired wall art thrive.

  • Design in Kittl: Use their prebuilt vintage and retro templates.
  • Research in EverBee: Search “printable wall art” for best-selling keywords.
  • Printify Tip: Offer different sizes (8×10, 16×20) for versatility.

5. Socks

Hoodies, especially oversized ones, fit right into Pinterest’s cozy, fall and winter aesthetic. People go to Pinterest for inspiration, and what better way to spark an idea than with a hoodie that feels like it was made for Netflix and chill or chilly mornings? Pinterest users are drawn to comfort, style, and seasonal vibes, and oversized hoodies are a perfect match for all of these.

Tips to Make Your Hoodies Pop on Pinterest:

  • Focus on Text-Based Designs: Pinterest loves simple but powerful designs. Hoodies with bold script fonts, witty sayings, or seasonal quotes are trending. Think “pumpkin spice season” or “cozy vibes only”—these kinds of quotes work well, especially as the weather turns colder.
  • Keep It Cozy: Pinterest is all about that cozy lifestyle, so make sure your hoodie designs reflect that. Use fonts and colors that give off warmth—like soft whites, grays, or earthy tones. A cozy, soft color palette is key to standing out on Pinterest.
  • Embrace the Fall & Winter Aesthetic: From Halloween to Christmas, seasonal hoodie designs are a great fit. Words like “hot cocoa,” “fall vibes,” or “winter wonderland” resonate with people looking for something cozy to wear during these seasons. You can also make hoodies that reflect the “boho” aesthetic with subtle earthy tones, ideal for fall.

How to Design the Perfect Hoodie:

  1. Use Kittl for Custom Designs: Kittl’s easy-to-use design tool helps you create bold, eye-catching hoodie graphics. Use its vintage textures and fonts to give your hoodies that retro vibe or script fonts for a personalized touch. Experiment with different design templates that work with seasonal quotes or minimalist graphics.
  2. Research Using EverBee: Before jumping into design, spend some time on EverBee checking out what’s trending on Etsy for cozy hoodie designs. Search for popular keywords like “cozy hoodie” or “fall hoodie” to see what customers are buying. Check how those designs use fonts, colors, and themes that perform well.
  3. Fulfill with Printify: After you’ve created your hoodie design, Printify can help you fulfill it. Choose soft cotton, unisex styles for comfort, and opt for the oversized look. These are the most popular types on Pinterest. For mockups, use lifestyle images that show the hoodie in a cozy setting—a person lounging on the couch or out in a pumpkin patch.

Pro Tip: Seasonal hoodie designs—whether for fall, Christmas, or cozy girl vibes—are highly shareable. Make sure your designs are versatile enough for gifting or as part of a cozy wardrobe. When people share your pins, it drives more traffic to your store and increases the chances of making a sale.

6. Phone Cases

Phone cases are one of the hottest categories on Pinterest right now. Why? Because they are the perfect blend of personalization, style, and functionality—ideal for Pinterest users who love aesthetic and customized products. Whether it’s a simple monogram or a bold graphic, phone cases are the kind of items that people love to share and purchase.

Specific Ideas to Make Your Phone Cases Stand Out:

  • Use Aesthetic Collages: Pinterest thrives on eye-catching visuals, and phone cases are perfect for this. Use collage-style designs that mix colors, textures, and graphics. You can create minimalist art, floral designs, or abstract patterns, all of which are trending. Try incorporating soft pastel tones or vibrant neon colors that stand out in the Pinterest feed.
  • Monogram and Personalized Designs: One of the biggest trends on Pinterest right now is personalization. Adding someone’s initials or a meaningful quote to a phone case can make it feel special. Create designs with monogram fonts or use fun, quirky fonts to make the personalization pop. You can also include custom graphics, like zodiac signs or favorite animals, which are popular on Pinterest.
  • Y2K Glitter and Nostalgia: The Y2K aesthetic (think early 2000s fashion) is back in full force, and that includes phone cases. Incorporating glitter, shiny elements, and nostalgic graphics will attract users who love that retro feel. Think of fun, glittery backgrounds or designs that remind people of the 90s and early 2000s pop culture.

How to Create Winning Phone Case Designs:

  1. Design in Kittl: Kittl’s platform offers tons of templates and tools perfect for creating phone case designs. You can experiment with bold text, quirky fonts, and collage styles. It’s a simple way to create standout phone case graphics without needing advanced design skills. If you’re going for a vintage or retro style, Kittl has pre-built templates that’ll give your designs that extra punch.
  2. Validate with EverBee: Before you go live, take a moment to use EverBee to check out what’s selling on Etsy. Search for popular keywords like “custom phone case,” “personalized phone case,” and “Y2K phone case” to see what customers are looking for. Pay attention to the fonts, colors, and design elements used in the most popular products—this can give you insights into what works.
  3. Fulfill with Printify: Once you’ve perfected your design, Printify makes it easy to bring it to life. Choose a glossy finish for a sleek, high-quality look. Make sure your phone case mockups highlight the design clearly and add some lifestyle shots (e.g., the case on a phone sitting on a stylish desk or in someone’s hand) to make it feel more relatable.

Pro Tip: Trends change quickly on Pinterest, so keep an eye on what’s trending and try to refresh your designs frequently. Offering seasonal designs for holidays or back-to-school can also drive sales, as people love to update their phone accessories throughout the year.

7. Desk Mats

Desk mats are a growing trend on Pinterest, and for good reason. Pinterest users are obsessed with creating aesthetic and functional workspaces, and desk mats are the perfect way to elevate any desk setup. Whether it’s to protect your surface, add a pop of color, or just make the workspace more organized, desk mats have become a must-have for both work-from-home entrepreneurs and style-focused individuals.

What Makes Desk Mats So Popular:

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Pinterest is all about inspiration, and desk mats fit perfectly into the curated, stylish workspace aesthetic. Neutral colors, minimalist designs, and smooth textures are key selling points. They allow people to enhance their desk setups while keeping things organized and clean.
  2. Functionality Meets Style: While aesthetics are important, desk mats serve a purpose—they protect your desk, provide a smooth surface for writing or typing, and reduce wear and tear. People on Pinterest love finding practical yet stylish items for their homes, and desk mats are the perfect combination.
  3. Trending Designs: Soft marble patterns, pastel tones, geometric shapes, and even motivational or productivity quotes are all the rage. These types of designs fit into Pinterest’s “home office” niche, where people love to make their workspaces look inviting and motivational.

Ideas for Creating Popular Desk Mats:

  • Neutral Marble: Marble designs, especially in soft white and gray tones, are timeless. These colors not only pair well with most desk setups but also have a luxury feel that appeals to Pinterest’s high-end, minimalist aesthetic.
  • Soft Pastels: Light pinks, blues, and purples are perfect for adding a pop of color without overwhelming the space. Pastels are often associated with calm and productivity, making them a great fit for workspaces.
  • Geometric Patterns: Sharp, clean lines and geometric shapes are another trending design that catches the eye. Think angular patterns in subtle colors like beige, soft gray, or even blush pink.
  • Productivity Quotes: Inspirational or motivational quotes about productivity, organization, or creativity are great ways to add a personal touch to a desk mat. Simple, elegant typography paired with a minimal background can make these designs really pop on Pinterest.

How to Design Your Desk Mats:

  1. Design in Kittl: Use Kittl’s seamless pattern and geometric background tools to create stunning desk mats. You can also use their pastel backgrounds or upload custom textures to give your designs a unique touch. The platform’s easy-to-use templates make it simple to create professional-looking designs even if you don’t have advanced design skills.
  2. Validate with EverBee: Check out what’s selling in the “desk mat” category on Etsy through EverBee. This will give you a sense of the styles and colors that are in demand. Look for trends in color palettes, patterns, and even quotes that are performing well on Pinterest.
  3. Fulfill with Printify: Once you’ve created your design, Printify makes it simple to bring it to life. Choose from high-quality materials and ensure you’re offering options in the most popular sizes. Desk mats with clean edges and smooth finishes look the most professional, so be sure to use mockups that showcase these features.

Pro Tip: Use lifestyle mockups to show the desk mat in context—on a desk with a laptop, coffee mug, or plant. This makes the product feel more relatable and aspirational, helping potential customers visualize it in their own workspaces.

8. All-Over-Print Hoodies

All-over-print hoodies are a Pinterest sensation, especially for users who want to stand out. Pinterest thrives on bold, eye-catching visuals, and these hoodies fit that perfectly. From galaxy prints to retro florals, all-over designs create an immediate visual impact, making them ideal for Pinterest’s feed full of high-energy content.

Why All-Over-Print Hoodies Sell:

  1. Bold, Statement-Making Designs: The key to success on Pinterest is grabbing attention quickly. All-over-prints make a strong visual statement, and that’s why they perform so well. Whether it’s a funky pattern, bold graphic, or something that makes a social or artistic statement, these designs stand out among the sea of more subtle pins.
  2. Versatile and Shareable: Pinterest users love sharing unique, eye-catching designs with their followers. All-over print hoodies fit perfectly into that category, making them highly shareable, whether for fashion, art, or personality.
  3. Wide Appeal: These hoodies can tap into multiple niches—from streetwear and pop culture references to artistic expressions and even cosplay. Whether someone is into graphic design, fantasy, or minimalism, there’s an all-over print hoodie that can speak to their interests.

Tips for Making Your All-Over-Print Hoodies Pop:

  • Experiment with Graphics: Pinterest loves a variety of designs. Experiment with galaxy patterns, surreal art, bold florals, or vintage-inspired designs that wrap around the entire hoodie. Users love these because they stand out and offer something unique.
  • Use Bright, Contrasting Colors: Bold color combinations or vibrant neon accents on your prints are perfect for attracting attention. Pinterest is visual-heavy, so designs with contrast often catch the eye first.
  • Tie in Pop Culture or Trendy Themes: All-over designs are an excellent place to showcase current trends, like nostalgia-driven graphics (think 80s/90s revival), music-inspired designs, or popular symbols from pop culture.

How to Create Stunning All-Over-Print Hoodies:

  1. Design in Kittl: Kittl’s pattern maker tool is perfect for creating these dynamic, all-over designs. It allows you to make seamless, repeating patterns or intricate, detailed visuals that cover the entire hoodie. You can also experiment with vintage textures and color schemes to create something truly eye-catching.
  2. Research with EverBee: To make sure your designs are hitting the mark, use EverBee to analyze top-selling hoodies. Search for keywords like “graphic hoodie” or “statement hoodie” to see what’s trending in the market. Pay attention to the color schemes, patterns, and imagery that are resonating with Pinterest users.
  3. Print with Printify: Once you’ve crafted your design, Printify offers high-quality all-over-print hoodie options. The mockups that showcase the full-wrap design will help your product pop. Ensure you offer a variety of sizes and use lifestyle mockups that highlight the hoodie in real-world settings (e.g., on a person in a park, at a concert, or even at home lounging).

Pro Tip: All-over-print hoodies are highly shareable, especially if you focus on unique, conversation-starting designs. When users find something they connect with, they’re more likely to pin it, share it, and buy it. Make sure your designs are fresh and on-trend to capture their attention and boost your sales.

9. Backpacks

9. Backpacks: Style Meets Functionality

Backpacks are not only practical, but they also serve as an extension of personal style. With a growing trend of combining function with flair, Pinterest users are drawn to backpacks that fit their needs but also make a fashion statement. Whether it’s for school, travel, or everyday use, backpacks are a must-have for anyone looking to complete their look.

Why Backpacks Sell:

  • Versatile Design: A well-designed backpack doesn’t just carry stuff—it makes a statement. Pinterest users love backpacks that match their aesthetic while serving practical purposes. They want a backpack that fits into their lifestyle—whether that’s a boho look for the weekend or a minimalist design for daily use.
  • Functional and Stylish: The rise of the work-from-home trend and casual travel means backpacks have become essential. The right design can take you from campus to the office to a weekend getaway. These types of backpacks are not just utilitarian—they are stylish accessories people love to show off.
  • Seasonal Appeal: Backpacks are popular all year round, but certain designs work better during specific seasons. For instance, boho or floral patterns thrive in spring and summer, while neutral, structured designs are favored for fall and back-to-school seasons. Designing backpacks that speak to the changing needs of your audience will help boost your sales.

Tips to Make Your Backpacks Stand Out on Pinterest:

  • Embrace Boho and Minimalism: Boho patterns are huge on Pinterest, especially those with earthy tones and floral designs. These backpacks appeal to Pinterest users looking for unique, carefree styles. Minimalist neutrals—like beige, black, or gray—are also a great choice for users looking for something sleek and versatile.
  • Use Bold Graphics: Don’t be afraid to add a statement piece to the backpack design. Graphics that tie into popular trends (think retro logos, 90s-inspired patterns, or artistic graphics) catch the eye quickly. Bold designs make your backpacks stand out in a crowded Pinterest feed.
  • Tie into Specific Themes: Think about your target market and what they are into. Back-to-school backpacks are popular in the fall, while travel-themed designs (like global patterns or adventure slogans) are perfect for spring and summer. Keep your designs seasonally relevant, and you’ll see more engagement.

How to Create the Perfect Backpack Design:

  1. Design in Kittl: Start by using Kittl’s templates for geometric or boho designs. These will help you create a striking backpack pattern. Experiment with bold lines, bright colors, and striking imagery to draw in Pinterest users. Kittl’s platform is easy to use, even for those without much design experience.
  2. Research with EverBee: Check what’s trending in the backpack category by searching for terms like “boho backpack” or “minimalist backpack” on Etsy. This will give you insight into what’s selling. Focus on popular keywords, colors, and styles to stay on trend.

Lifestyle images (such as backpacks on a person at the airport, on a hike, or at school) resonate with Pinterest users and give them a sense of how the product fits into their lives.

Pro Tip: Seasonal designs, like “back-to-school” backpacks or ones with bold holiday prints, can help make your products timely and relevant. Keep an eye on trends throughout the year and refresh your designs to meet seasonal demands.
