How You Can Make $100 A Day Selling Templates On Pinterest

This website contains affiliate links. Some products are gifted by the brand. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. The content on this website was created with the help of AI.

While I share money-making strategies, nothing is "typical", and outcomes are based on each individual. There are no guarantees.

Imagine waking up to an extra hundred dollars in sales from something you created once, months ago.

Sounds like a dream, but turning simple digital templates into daily passive income can be your reality. The best part? This isn’t about having a million followers, dumping money into ads, or even needing a fancy website. This is about using Pinterest the smart way. This guide pulls back the curtain on the exact pin designs and keyword strategy to get buyers clicking and making you sales while you sleep. If you’re ready to see how it’s done, keep reading.

Why Pinterest is a Goldmine for Template Sellers

First things first: you have to completely rewire your brain about what Pinterest is. Don’t think of it like Instagram or TikTok, where your content is hot today and forgotten tomorrow. That’s a hamster wheel that only leads to burnout.

Pinterest is a visual search engine. Think of it as Google’s cooler, more aesthetic cousin. People don’t come here to mindlessly scroll; they come here to plan, find solutions, and—most importantly—to buy. They are actively typing in high-intent keywords like “social media templates for realtors” or “weekly meal planner printable.”

This is the entire secret. Your customer is already on Pinterest, literally searching for the solution you can sell them. The magic here is that the lifespan of a pin isn’t a few hours; it’s months, and sometimes even years. A single pin you create today can keep driving traffic and sales long-term, building a real passive income machine.

Your 4-Step Blueprint to Pinterest Sales

Here is the exact four-step process to build a repeatable system that brings in sales day after day.

Step 1: Find a Winning Template Idea

You can’t sell something nobody’s looking for. The first step is to find a profitable template idea by tapping into what’s already popular on Pinterest. Pinterest users are planners and doers, so the best products help them get organized or reach a goal faster.

So, what actually sells?

First, major life events. Things like wedding planners, bachelorette party itineraries, baby shower games, and budget templates are huge winners. People in a massive planning frenzy are more than happy to pay for a template that saves them time and stress. It’s an evergreen niche, meaning there’s always a fresh audience needing these solutions.

Second, business and professional templates. Small business owners, freelancers, and creators are all over Pinterest searching for shortcuts. This means Canva templates for social media, media kits for influencers, client intake forms, and invoice designs. You’re not just selling a design; you’re selling them a professional shortcut to looking legit.

Third, personal development and productivity is a massive market. Think digital planners, Notion dashboards, habit trackers, and workout logs. People are always on a quest to better themselves, and a beautifully designed template that promises organization is an easy “add to cart.”

The key isn’t to reinvent the wheel; it’s to find what’s already in high demand and then create a better, more beautiful version of it. Go to Pinterest, type in “digital planner” or “Canva template,” and just look at what pops up. The pins with thousands of saves are your roadmap—free market research.

Step 2: Master the Keyword “Spy” Strategy

Once you have your brilliant idea, you need to find the exact words people are typing into that search bar. This is the most critical step and where most people drop the ball. Pinterest SEO isn’t about gaming the system; it’s about speaking Pinterest’s language so it can introduce your products to the right people.

Here is a simple keyword spy strategy.

First, go to the Pinterest search bar. This is your new best friend. Start typing a broad term for your product, like “social media template.” Don’t hit enter. Pinterest will instantly drop down a list of suggestions, like “social media template for Instagram” or “social media template for real estate.” Those aren’t guesses; they are the most popular searches. Write them down. These are your golden long-tail keywords.

Second, now hit enter. Right under the search bar, you’ll see a bunch of colorful bubbles with even more keywords. Pinterest is literally showing you how it organizes the topic and what other related things people are looking for. Click on them. Explore. You are building a “keyword bank” of dozens of highly relevant phrases.

Third, use these keywords everywhere. Your Pinterest profile name and bio need to be keyword-rich. So instead of “Sarah’s Designs,” it should be “Sarah’s Designs | Canva Templates for Coaches.” Your board titles and descriptions need them too. Create specific boards like “Social Media Templates,” not a junk drawer board called “My Products.” Finally, every single pin you make must have these keywords in its title and description.

When you do this, you’re not just hoping to be discovered; you are engineering your discovery.

Step 3: Design Pins That Sell (A Quick Canva Guide)

Pinterest is a visual platform. Your pin has about two seconds to stop the scroll. It doesn’t matter how amazing your template is if your pin is ugly. Creating a high-converting pin is a science, and you can use a tool like Canva for everything.

Here’s the anatomy of a pin that actually sells:

First, the size. Your pins have to be vertical. The best ratio is 2:3, which is 1000 by 1500 pixels in Canva. Horizontal images just get swallowed by the feed.

Second, the image. You need to show your template in action. Don’t just post a boring, flat screenshot. Use mockups. Show what it looks like on a laptop, a tablet, or printed out on a pretty desk. People need to visualize themselves using it. Use bright, high-quality images and bold colors that pop.

Third, the text overlay. This is non-negotiable. Your pin needs a big, bold, easy-to-read headline that screams the benefit. Use clear and concise fonts, not fancy, loopy ones that are impossible to read on a phone. Instead of “Wedding Planner,” try “The All-in-One Planner That Ends Wedding Stress.”

Fourth, a clear Call-to-Action (CTA) right on the pin. You have to tell people what to do next. A little arrow or a button that says “Click to Download,” “Shop Now,” or “Get the Template” works wonders and will dramatically boost your clicks.

And finally, branding. Slap your logo or website URL on the bottom of every pin. It builds brand recognition and stops content thieves in their tracks.

That’s the five-part formula: right size, mockup image, bold headline, a CTA, and your branding.

A Note on Pin Design Templates

Designing dozens of pins can feel like a ton of work—and it can be. To give you a head start and save you hours, you can use high-converting Canva pin templates. The exact layouts used for proven products are available as fully customizable templates. You can grab them at the link in the description. They’re a total game-changer.

The “Sales While You Sleep” Pinning Strategy

So, you have your product, your keywords, and your killer pin designs. Now, how do you get them seen without living on Pinterest all day? This is the “Sales While You Sleep” strategy.

The name of the game is consistency, not volume. Pinterest’s algorithm loves and rewards creators who post fresh content regularly. A “fresh pin” just means a new image that Pinterest hasn’t seen before. You do NOT need to pin 50 times a day. In fact, that can look super spammy and get you penalized.

Your strategy is to create 3 to 5 unique pin designs for each digital product. Remember, a fresh pin is just a new image, so you can have 5 different pins all pointing to the exact same product link.

Then, pin consistently. The trick is to schedule them out over time. Aim to publish just 1 to 3 new pins a day. You can do this by hand, but it’s far easier to use a scheduler. Pinterest even has its own free, native scheduler you can use.

When you post a new pin, save it to your most relevant, keyword-optimized board first. Over the next few weeks, you can re-save that same pin to other relevant boards, but that first push is what matters most.

That’s it. You put in the work upfront—create the product, do the research, design the pins. Then you let a scheduler drip them out for weeks or months. The system takes over, showing your work to new potential buyers every single day. That’s how you make sales in your sleep.

The #1 Mistake to Avoid

The #1 mistake to avoid that can kill all your hard work is treating Pinterest like Instagram.

This looks like having a board for “Keto Recipes” right next to your “Wedding Invitation Templates.” It confuses the algorithm and your audience. Your personal interests belong on your secret boards.

It also looks like obsessing over follower count. On Pinterest, followers DO NOT equal success. The beauty of Pinterest is that its search engine will show your content to anyone searching for your keywords, whether they follow you or not. You can make thousands of dollars from people who have never followed your account. They searched, they found, they clicked, they bought.

But the biggest mistake of all is just pinning a product photo with no context and hoping for the best. You have to add value. You have to use SEO. You have to create pins that help the user imagine your solution in their life. Just pinning product shots is a fast track to being completely ignored.

Avoid these mistakes. Stay focused on your niche, forget about followers, and optimize every single pin.

Conclusion: Your Path to Passive Income

There you have it—your entire playbook to make $100 a day selling digital templates on Pinterest. One: Find a winning idea in a popular niche. Two: Use the keyword “spy” strategy to find what buyers are searching for. Three: Design scroll-stopping pins with the five-part formula. And four: Use a consistent pinning strategy to put it all on autopilot.

This isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. It takes real work to set up. But once it’s running, it’s a powerful and sustainable income stream that works for you 24/7. This is 100% achievable, and you have every step you need to get started.

Now, for the question of the day: what kind of digital template are you thinking of creating first? Share your ideas down in the comments!

Everything that made me woo-hoo, gave me energy, or made me happy went in the joy column.

Once I listed everything that brought me pain, I began to move out of those activities and tasks. I heavily pursued everything that brought me joy.

My entire business changed, and now I only work in the joy column. And my life followed
