Instapage vs. Unbounce: A Comparison of Top Landing Page Builders

This post will focus on Instapage and Unbounce. We will take a deep dive into each of them to see which has the best features, overlap, and ultimately who comes out on top.

Table of Contents

  • What is Instapage?
  • What is Unbounce?
  • Overview of Instapage/Unbounce Difference
  • In-Depth Comparison Instapage vs. Unbounce
  • Final Thoughts

Anyone can make a landing page. However, not everyone can make a high-quality, dedicated landing page that properly funnels your sales.

Regular website homepages are not the best candidates for sales pages or capturing leads. Typical homepages are made of widgets and links that best serve the browsing visitor, not the potential customer or client.

Homepages like that do not work if you have a specific offer or call-to-action for your potential new customer or client. For this, you need a dedicated landing page, and to make one, you’ll need a reliable landing page builder.

With a landing page builder like Instapage or Unbounce at your disposal, you will be creating unique landing pages in no time. With all of the features, you could need at your disposal, both of these page builders will optimize your conversion rates and save you money on developer fees.

But there are so many software companies offering this service, which one is the best? Before we delve into our review, let’s take a look at what Instapage and Unbounce are.

What is Instapage?

Founded in 2012, Instapage is a landing page creation tool primarily meant as a post-clock page builder/optimization platform. They offer many different products that will help you design a personalized page, track your advertising campaigns, and a whole lot more.

3rd party tools, like the ones found in most stacks, find seamless integration into your landing page with Instapage. This includes platforms like:

  • Autopilot
  • Mailchimp
  • Google Ads
  • Drupal
  • HubSpot
  • Salesforce

Instapage is one of the best single-platform growth marketers. They’ll have your landing page set up and meet your multiple advertising needs in no time.

What is Unbounce?

Like Instapage, Unbounce is one of many popular landing page builders. It offers the same level of functionality as its fellow top-of-the-class competitors. One difference is that they do not provide their tools as separate products as Instapage does.

Both Unbounce and Instapage have a few different features, plans, and pricing. Regardless, it’s as good a marketing tool as the rest, and it can work miracles for your conversion rates.

Overview of Instapage/Unbounce Difference

Before we delve deep into the features of each landing page software, let’s look at the general differences between the two:

  • Instapage provides customized popups that have exit intent. Unbounce merely has basic popup operations.
  • Instapage has better reporting and analytics than Unbounce, which has simple native reporting. Instapage uses heat maps.
  • Unbounce is less expensive, with starting plans at $79 per month. Instapage is far more costly, with the cheapest option beginning at $149 per month.
  • Unbounce gives greater flexibility and options for customization.
  • Instapage has a smooth interface right out of the box and provides more defined landing pages.

In-Depth Comparison: Instapage vs. Unbounce

Let’s kick off our deep dive into these products and have a look at their core functionalities. Then, we’ll compare the two to see who comes out on top.

Instapage

The offerings at Instapage are packaged as different products. And while each serves a different purpose, all help deliver a completely automated marketing solution that will increase your conversation rate.

One of these products, however, shines above the rest:

Creation. This tool will allow Instapage customers to build captivating, post-click experiences that are on-brand and fully mobile-responsive. And it will let you do that in mere minutes.

Using page blocks, Instapage users can easily create their landing pages with a page builder that is as intuitive as they come. Drag and drop the elements you need, and you won’t have to write a single line of HTML, CSS, or Javascript.

Instapge also uses the Thor Render Engine. This piece of proprietary tech offers AMP support ensuring your pages loading fast and seamlessly on mobile platforms.

But Instapage brands itself as more than just a landing page editor. It comes with several other ‘products and tools to meet the needs of any marketing team. So let’s take a look:

AdMap: This tool lets Intapage customers visualize their campaigns and link currently running ads with the right landing pages.

Do it all in an easy-to-use dashboard where you can seamlessly synch ad accounts to get a complete overview of your campaigns and their progress.

The Postclick Score allows you to track their effectiveness by making a percentage out of your conversation rate, the number of ads, and the number of visitors.

Personalization: Target a specific audience with this dynamic landing page creator. The text replacement tool is dynamic and can deliver the message you want to the right person at precisely the right time.

Using visitor-level data, this tool uses several parameters to provide the best post-click experience for the visitor, depending on where they are coming from.

Experimentation: With this feature, marketing teams will be able to trial and error their post-click experiences. Learn and improve the experience you deliver to your customers by leveraging heatmaps, A/B testing, and other insightful analytics.

Collaboration: Serves to help your business make its campaign management process as efficient as possible with this native team collaboration program. You will be able to request edits, share feedback, and track your workflow with each member involved.

Advertising Conversion Cloud: A bundle of campaign management service features that’s offered to larger businesses. Highlights include direct lead bypass, custom feature implementation, Customer Success Manager, and Google Analytics insights.

Unbounce

Compared to everything we’ve detailed above, Unbounce can seem more like a simple Landing page builder.

But looks can be deceiving. Read on to learn about all of the features Unbounce has and the problems it can solve. You’ll quickly realize Unbounce is pretty much on the level with Instapage.

Unbounce wants you to think of it as a single product that gives its customers the ability to make stunning landing pages in just a few clicks.

It’s a user-friendly experience that’s just as good as Instapage. It offers the same kind of drag-and-drop editing features. In addition, no coding will be required on your part when putting together your landing page.

They also have tones of templates to meet all of your post-click needs. So if you are uninspired or don’t know where to start, these templates will allow you to fill the blanks and have a professional quality page up in no time at all.

Additionally, Unbounce’s platform contains various CRO/experimentation features like dynamic text replacement, A/B testing, and much more.

It also offers a platform for team account management that allows you to manage multiple clients and make real-time changes.

Unbounce, however, does lack a few things in comparison to Instapage. For example, Unbounce could do with a centralized ad campaign management tool like the AdMap feature offered by Instapage.

Final Thoughts

If you have a large or medium-sized business, Unbounce is probably the ideal option for you. This is because a good portion of Unbounce was designed with marketing teams or agencies in mind.

Instapage, on the other hand, is ideal if you want to get your landing page up and running in as few steps as possible.

They have unique templates for pretty much any industry. While the basic plan is missing a few features, Instapage is start-up friendly and will make creating and managing your pages and leads as easy as it can be.
