Hi. I’m Lori Ballen and I earn 6-figures from my affiliate marketing stream of income. I just finished this year’s income sheets and I’m going to share with you how I earned $134,000 by promoting other brands’ products. There were 43 products or brands I was paid from this year. Here’s How:

What Is Affiliate Marketing?
Lori Ballen learned affiliate marketing by accident. Through a means of teaching software she already used, she began earning compensation for her influence. In 2018, she earned her first 6-figures in the affiliate marketing income stream and then began applying purpose to it in 2019 reaching $134,000 in affiliate income.
Affiliate marketing is when a publisher (meaning anyone who creates content or shares about a product in some way) promotes a product and receives a financial reward when that visitor makes a purchase.
This can be done through methods such as:
- Social Media Influence
- Organic Search Engine Rankings
- From the Stage
- In Ebooks and articles
- Through Email campaigns
When you find a product you want to promote, you can visit the brand’s website and use the menu (often in the footer at the bottom of the page) to see if they offer an affiliate, rewards, ambassador, referral, or partner program.
- Affiliate: Usually pays a set percentage amount of a 1-time sale or recurring. Might offer a flat rate. Generally paid as a “commission” through an affiliate program or network and pays via check, PayPal, direct deposit.
- Rewards: Generally offers you points or credits towards future purchases rather than the money paid to you directly.
- Ambassador: Can be a combination. Often a “prize” related program. You earn certain rewards based on the number of people you refer to the brand.
- Referral Program: Generally money paid to you directly yet is usually a smaller, flat amount. “Earn $25 for each customer you refer” for example.
- Partner Program: Usually, you are working with this brand to develop, grow, or teach the platform. A partner generally has more tools and higher commissions and is expected to provide some level of support to the customer.
Personally, I get frustrated with most affiliate marketing programs that are not an affiliate or partner program. I mean, how much brand “swag” can you use or find value in? I have a partnership with a nail polish company.
I made a video on my review of the polish and immediately began getting sign-ups. The reward program offers me points and I’ve made a lot of points. The problem is that they simply can be used as a limited use coupon towards my own purchases and I will never order that much nail polish. And with shipping, it’s simply not worth it. So I haven’t used the rewards. In some cases, you can get the product free using points and resell it which can be beneficial. If not, you simply don’t benefit financially.
Therefore, I suggest affiliate programs wherever you can find them.

Beginning Affiliate Marketing
This will be a lifetime project although you can set up an affiliate marketing relationship in a matter of minutes.
- Choose a Product
Choose your products based on the audience you have or want to build. Conversion rates will be higher when you promote a product to an audience that trusts you.
- Set Up An Affiliate Relationship With The Brand
Create a relationship with the brand that offers that product as part of an affiliate program.
- Use the Product if Possible
If you are using influence in any way, understanding the best use of the product and how it works will help you convert more sales with your affiliate marketing efforts.
- Build a Landing Page
- Promote The Product
You could set up a WordPress Website through a platform like WP Engine or Wealthy Affiliate (or call Ballen Brands at 702-917-0755) and write articles that solve problems for a specific audience. Then include the links, ads, banners, etc. in your blog.
You could create a youtube channel that features product reviews for a specific niche or teaches people how to use a product. This is a very popular strategy in affiliate marketing.
You could start a hyperfocused facebook group, LinkedIn group, Instagram channel, etc. that focuses on products that appeal to your particular audience.
You could run paid ads to your landing page that features your product.
You could create a podcast focused on material for your audience that would buy that product.
