Amazon Affiliate Income

How Everyday People Make Real Money on Amazon Without a Big Following

You do not need a studio, a budget, or a hundred thousand followers. You need a phone, a storefront, a link, and a way to hand that link to the person who just asked for it. Here is the whole system.

How affiliate links actually pay you

An honest recommendation

For a long time I had no idea which of my links were actually making money. I had product mentions scattered across dozens of posts, some linked, some not, some pointing at products Amazon had quietly killed. I was guessing.

Lasso is what fixed that. It manages every Amazon link on my blog in one place, styles the product boxes so they actually get clicked, and tells me which links earned and which ones are dead weight. It is the difference between having affiliate links and running an affiliate business.

The four things that make this work

The Amazon Influencer Program gives you your own storefront, and that storefront is the thing that keeps earning long after a video stops getting views. Every product you talk about goes on it. Every list you build stays there. When someone lands on it looking for one blender, they browse eleven other things and buy three of them, and you get paid on all of it. Build the storefront before you worry about the audience.

Pick up the product. Turn on the camera. Say what it does, what you like, what annoys you. That is the video. Polished product videos convert worse than honest ones, because a buyer at the point of purchase is looking for a real opinion, not a commercial. You do not need your face in it either. Hands and the product are enough.

Short-form platforms do not give you clickable links in posts or comments, which is where most people give up. The workaround is automation: someone comments a keyword, and a tool sends them the link in a direct message. I run this with ManyChat. The comment is public proof that people want the thing, and the DM is the part that actually converts.

One product video becomes a short, a reel, a pin, and a section in a blog post. Same footage, four audiences, one link. This is why creators without a big following still earn: they are not relying on one algorithm to find one audience once. They are putting the same recommendation in five places where a buyer might be standing.

Compare them

The four pieces, and what each one is for

Free, application required

Your curated shopping page inside Amazon. Apply to the Influencer Program, get accepted, then add products from any product page. This is the one destination you can send every follower to, from every platform, forever.

Free with Associates

The bar that appears at the top of any Amazon page when you are logged into your Associates account. One click generates the affiliate link for whatever product you are looking at. It is the fastest way to grab a link, and most people never turn it on.

Free tier, paid for the good stuff

Set a keyword. Someone comments it, they get a DM with your link. This is how you get around the no-clickable-links problem on short-form platforms, and it is the single highest-converting placement in this whole system.

Paid, affiliate link above

Once you have more than a handful of links, you need one dashboard that shows every link, flags the dead ones, and reports what actually earned. Without it you are guessing, and guessing is how you keep promoting a product Amazon delisted six weeks ago.

Seven steps. Do them in order. Check them off as you go.

“A small audience that trusts you outsells a big one that scrolls past you. Amazon does not pay you for followers. It pays you for buyers.”

Quick answers

Frequently asked

Do I need a big following to get into the Amazon Influencer Program?
No, but you do need a real social account with genuine engagement on it. Amazon looks at activity, not just follower count. Keep posting while your application is under review.
What is the difference between Associates and the Influencer Program?
Associates gives you affiliate links to any product. The Influencer Program adds a storefront and lets you post product videos on Amazon itself. Most people should have both.
Do I have to show my face?
No. Hands and the product are plenty. A lot of the best-performing product videos are just someone holding the thing and talking about it.
Why can I not just put the link in a comment?
Short-form platforms do not make links in posts or comments clickable, and pushing people off-platform tends to hurt your reach. Use a comment-to-DM automation or send people to the link in your bio instead.
What happens when Amazon kills a product I linked to?
The link goes dead and you keep sending traffic to nothing. This is exactly why link management matters once you have more than a handful of links. Something has to tell you a link broke.
