Saved links are great for adding additional layers to your marketing efforts. While widgets placed on main domain pages are better for long term SEO, when you create a saved link in IDX Broker, you can use it for pay per click marketing, general pricing tables, or URL’s you want to track as a link you included on a blog or advertisement.

You are able to create and manage as many custom results pages as you want by using Saved Links.
A Saved Link can be built around any specific criteria that you choose and your MLS provides a field for. These are the same selections as you will find in your traditional widgets.
For instance, you may build a link for a page with all homes for sale with a pool in a specific neighborhood, or all the listings in a price range for a particular school zone or district. You can choose all the search criteria ahead of time and use this link anywhere you like. Your saved link will have its own Custom URL. Each page will also have its own meta description and SEO title.
A bonus to saved links is that they each have their own preferences allowing you to add in additional registration options. Read More on this below in preferences.
How to Create a Saved Link
To create a saved link, click on Designs in the main menu, Saved Links in the submenu, and Create in the drop-down menu.
Step 1: Choose the type
Choose the search page you would like to use to build your Saved Link. The search pages offered here are populated from your pages (under the Designs button). Typically, Advanced Search will be what you use to build a saved link. On some accounts, this page may be labeled Home Search.
Step 2: Build your Criteria
The search form you selected will appear on your screen. Remember, this is being fed from whatever your page settings show. Set up your IDX pages before you build out your saved links. Fill out the search form including all of the criteria you want to use to provide specific results. At any time you can see which results are being shown with your chosen criteria by clicking the “View Results in New Window” button.
When you are done, choose Next Step. If you don’t see the fields you wanted, you need to add those by going to Designs, Pages, Advanced Search, Fields, and then drag in the fields you need and save.
Step 3: Add in Custom Tag, Title, and URL
Just like you can with pages, you can set a custom Page Title, Link URL, and Meta Tags (feeding your meta description for Google Snippets) for this unique set of search results. You can also add a Subheader to this page to make it even more unique and engaging (you can add this later if you wish to simply save the link now). If you have opted to build links instead of pages with widgets on your main domain, you’ll want to set up your meta tags and SEO title accordingly.
Step 4: Choose Whether to display on Showcase
Your Link Showcase is simply a page of all of the links that you have chosen to showcase. This can be added to your Menu bar or added as a link in your content should you decide to use it.
Step 5: Add your Subheader
Your subheader is a traditional WYSIWYG page builder. This is where you add your content. If you are building links for PPC, you probably want to stick with just properties. If you have chosen, however, to build links that you want to rank on the search engines (rather than or in addition to pages on your main domain with widgets , then you will want to use this area to build out search engine optimized, customer-centric, valuable content. This space allows for text, photos, videos, and other HTML options.
Assigning an Agent
If you have an Office Account, you can also assign an Agent to this link. The assigned agent will receive any new leads that come in as a result of clicking this link.
Example: Let’s say your team process is to assign leads directly to agents on the team rather than going through a call coordinator or inside sales agent. Maybe you have one agent that specializes in high rises on your team and you want that agent to receive those leads.
Any saved you links you build out then are assigned to that agent. *This might be enough of a reason for you to build out Saved links instead of widget pages.
Example: You have more than one listing agent on your team. You want the leads that come from those listings to go to the listing agent. You run a Facebook Ad for one of the listings. You could then build a SAVED LINK from ADDRESS or LISTING ID and use that link on your FB ad. Then, any clicks that then register and become leads will be assigned to that agent on your team that you selected in the Agent Assignment field.
Creating a Polygon Saved Link (Platinum Feature)
The Polygon tool feature is great for mapping a very specific area. You can draw a polygon outlining an area on the map. Then, when you save the link, the results will only show results within that shape.
To create a Polygon Saved Link click Designs, then navigate to Saved Links, and choose Create from the drop-down.
Step 1 – Choose Polygon
From the drop-down, choose Standard Results under the Polygon option. Then click “Next Step”.
Step 2 – Draw Your Shape
You’ll find a map with control options on the left. To begin drawing your shape find and choose the Polygon Tool . Click the outside points of the area you would like showcased. You are not able to drag your mouse cursor as you would with a pencil, but instead, you will add points around the outside edge creating a boundary map around your area. To complete your boundary, click the first point you made closing the loop.
When editing your polygon, notice the zoom level and area of the map in view. The front end result page map should have a like zoom level and coordinates as shown in this example.
NOTE: There will not be property markers on this preview map.
If you want to edit the shape of your map you can use the Edit Tool . When using the Edit Tool, the existing polygon will become pink dashed lines with grab-points on each corner. You will also see new grab-points between each of your original points. You can grab and move these new points just like your original points to change the shape of your area.
When you are finished editing the points around your area click the Save button next to the Edit Tool.
Saved Link Preferences
To further customize the custom links that you have saved, choose Preferences in the main menu, Saved Links in the submenu, and Manage in the drop-down menu.
From the edit page you can edit the saved link by hand, or change the preferences.
On the Edit Saved Link page, click the Preferences tab. Here you can:
- Set up or change your SEO Settings
- Change your Page Title
- Change your URL. Be careful with this. If you don’t redirect the link, you will then create a 404 page not found broken link when you change the URL. This URL is the unique identifier for that page and when you change it, the web page address changes as well. Keep it short and don’t change it unless there is a major reason to.
- Modify your Link Settings
- Add or modify your subheader
- Assign an agent
Saved Link Registration Settings
You’ll find the registration settings under preferences after you build and save the link.
Once you find the links and click manager, choose the edit preferences icon next to the link you want to assign registration settings to.
Next, click over to the Registration Tab
Be default, these are blank. Your global registration settings will be applied. Your new settings will not override any global registration settings but will be an addition to. This is why we suggest setting your registrations page by pages rather than in global registration.
Choose whether you want to add requested registration (visitor can close the box and continue on) or forced registration (a visitor has to fill out form or exit page. They can’t close the box).
New options will then appear.
- How many pages can they view now before they have to register? If this was a PPC intended link, 0 or 1 is suggested.
- Redirect to a third party website (like a landing page) where they will register instead of on IDX page
- Customize your form. This customization option opens a WYSIWYG editor where you can add HTML code, pictures, videos, text, links and more.
Managing your Saved Links
Find a Saved Link that you want to customize, and click the tool icon you want to use. Here you can preview your link, edit the search criteria, edit the preferences, copy the link or trash the link. From manage links, you can also see the type of link, when it was created, and how many views it has had. You can also access the wrapper and CSS here to customize.
Duplicating a Saved Link in dx broker
A wonderful recent addition to IDX broker is the ability to copy a saved link as a new link.
First, find links and choose Manage.
Next, find the link you want to duplicate and click the duplicate tool at the right side.
Once it opens, you can change the title you would like the new link to be called.
Click Create Duplicate. Once you have this completed, your new saved link will appear in the link list. You can then customize preferences and registration as you would with any other link.
Validating IDX Broker Links
From time to time, your MLS may make changes to the fields in the IDX data fed to IDX Broker. These changes can affect the field names used on your IDX pages. When this happens to your MLS, you’ll find a notice posted in your IDX control panel on your Dashboard.
These changes may cause some of the search fields used in your Saved Links to become expired and no longer return proper current search results. IDX Broker gives you a validation link that will automatically check your Saved Links for these invalid field names. To access this link, go to Designs -> Saved Links, and choose Manage from the dropdown. Above the list of Saved Links, you will see a link labeled Validate.
When you click this link, IDX Broker will automatically check all of your saved links and highlight in red all that have invalid field names. You will also get a notice for fields that are invalid for each link.
To update your links, click the Edit Search Criteria icon in the right column for every link you need to be updated.
Choose the right fields from your search form, and save your links again. After you update the search criteria for your links hat needs it, choose to Validate again to double-check each is all updated and valid.
