How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?
Affiliate marketing is still one of the best ways to make money online. It’s a performance-based model where you only get paid when someone takes an action, like buying a product or signing up for a service.
The strategy is simple: promote other people’s products and get a commission for every sale you generate. And best of all, it doesn’t require any inventory or overhead costs.
I’ve had several businesses: A resale clothing and furniture item store for babies, the #1 catering and party company in Las Vegas (which I sold), a Las Vegas real estate business (still operating), and a marketing company (which my brothers own and operate).
I’m also a marketing consultant, freelance writer, and create online courses.
And out of all of my endeavors, nothing has made me happier than affiliate marketing. While owning businesses offers a lot of opportunities, I never got to stay and play in my favorite activity: content creation and marketing.

1) Product Review Post

Conversely, a poorly written review that doesn’t provide much information or tries too hard to sell the product will do the opposite. Here’s how to create the perfect product review post that can convert affiliate offers.
Do Your Research
Before you start writing your review, it’s important to do your research on the product you’re reviewing. This means reading the reviews of other users, trying out the product yourself if possible, and getting a feel for what people are saying about it online. The more information you have about the product, the better equipped you’ll be to write an accurate and helpful review.
Take the time to discover some relevant statistics about the niche you are in that might be relevant to the product review. Google appreciates external links, and the right statistic can show why your product is a good purchase.
Be Honest
One of the most important things to remember when writing a product review is, to be honest. Don’t try to sell your readers on a product that you know isn’t good just because you’re an affiliate. Not only will this damage your credibility, but it could also get you banned from the affiliate program. So, it’s always best to be truthful in your reviews and only promote products that you would recommend to a friend.
When I create product reviews, I always share what I like, and what I don’t like. Pros and cons. I also add screenshots, videos, and images to help my readers get a better idea of what the product looks like and how it works.
Be Specific
When you’re writing your review, be as specific as possible. Your readers want to know the details of what they’re buying, so don’t skimp on the details. For example, if you’re reviewing a software program, don’t just say it’s “easy to use.” Instead, explain how easy it is to use and why that matters.
Provide Value
Your goal with any product review should be to provide value for your readers. This means going beyond simply telling them whether or not you liked the product—you should also provide them with information that will help them make an informed decision about whether or not to purchase it.
Give them all the details they need so they can decide for themselves if it’s something they’re interested in. For example, you could list resources to comprehensive tutorials or downloadable guides. You should show your secret sauce on how you are using the product.
Use Images and Videos
Images and videos can help break up your text and make your review more visually appealing. They can also be used to demonstrate how the product works, which can be helpful for your readers. Just make sure that any images or videos you use are hosted on a reliable, high-quality site so your readers can see them clearly.
And of course, don’t forget to include your link. I use a WordPress Plugin called Thirsty Affiliates. It allows me to enter a keyword that I might mention throughout my blog and assigns my affiliate link automatically.

In order to rank for product comparisons, Google prefers that you are an expert on the topic. This means you should have experience using the products you’re comparing, and you should be able to speak to the features of each product in depth. If you don’t have personal experience with the products, make sure to do your research so that you can write an informed and objective comparison.
Your product comparison post should be structured in an easy-to-follow way. I like to use a table format with the products side-by-side so that my readers can see the similarities and differences at a glance. You could also use bullet points or separate sections for each product.
When you’re writing your post, be sure to focus on the features that matter most to your audience. What are they looking for in a product? What are their pain points? By addressing these questions in your post, you can help your readers make a decision about which product is right for them.
Finally, don’t forget to include a call to action at the end of your post. Let your readers know where they can go to purchase the product, and be sure to include your affiliate link.
3. List Post (Best X for Y)
A list post is a great way to round up the best products in a specific niche or category. These types of posts are popular because they’re easy to write and they’re often very comprehensive. And, because they’re so comprehensive, they tend to rank well in search engines—which can mean more traffic and more conversions for you.
When you’re writing a list post, it’s important to focus on quality over quantity. Your readers don’t want a list of every single product on the market—they want a curated list of the best products. So take your time to research each product and only include those that you believe are truly the best.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your list should be relevant to your niche. For example, if you have a blog about health and fitness, you wouldn’t want to include a list of the best video games. Instead, you would want to focus on products that would be relevant to your readers, like fitness equipment or healthy food.

Google wants your readers to have choices. So, as long as the products you’re recommending are high quality, you’ll be in good shape.
4. Is it a Scam
The “Is it a scam” or “Is it worth it” post is a great way to convert affiliate offers. Depending on the brand you are promoting, one of these two titles could work better.
This type of post is designed to answer a very specific question that your readers have: Is this product a scam, or is it worth the money? You aren’t simply writing a product review, you are answering the question in the title.
If you are going with the “scam” approach, you need to validate your opinion with facts and logic. You can’t just say that it isn’t a scam without any evidence to back it up. So, take some time to do your research and put together a well-reasoned argument.
Find customer reviews (or complaints), social proof, and any other information that will help you make your case. And be sure to link to your sources so that your readers can see the evidence for themselves.
On the other hand, if you are going with the “worth it” approach, you need to make a case for why the product is worth the money. This will require you to dive into the features and benefits of the product and show how they stack up against the competition.
You’ll also want to include some information about who the product is for. Not every product is going to be a good fit for everyone, so it’s important to help your readers understand who the product is designed for.

Be sure to check your affiliate contract with the brand you are talking about. Some of them prohibit the use of the word scam, so you’ll need to be careful with your wording.
5. Case Study
A case study is a great way to show your readers the results that you’ve been able to achieve with a specific product. This type of post can be used to promote just about any type of product, from physical goods to software and everything in between.
To write a case study, choose a specific product that you’ve used and had success with. Once you’ve chosen a product, gather data to support your claim. This data can come from a variety of sources, including your own experience, customer reviews, social proof, and any other relevant information.
Once you have your data, write up the case study itself. Be sure to include all of the relevant information, as well as your affiliate link.
If you have any images or videos that would help to support your case study, be sure to include those as well. And, if you can, try to format your post in an easy-to-read way, like using bullet points or subheadings.
